All the World's a Stage by William Shakespeare.. Lumea întreagă e o scenă de William Shakespeare

EN: All the World's a Stage

All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts,
His acts being seven ages. At first, the infant,
Mewling and puking in the nurse's arms.
Then the whining schoolboy, with his satchel
And shining morning face, creeping like snail
Unwillingly to school. And then the lover,
Sighing like furnace, with a woeful ballad
Made to his mistress' eyebrow. Then a soldier,
Full of strange oaths and bearded like the pard,
Jealous in honor, sudden and quick in quarrel,
Seeking the bubble reputation
Even in the cannon's mouth. And then the justice,
In fair round belly with good capon lined,

20 Great Life Lessons.. 20 de lectii de viata bine punctate

EN: 20 Great Life Lessons

Commitment is what transforms a promise into reality. It is the words that speak boldly of your intentions. And the actions which speak louder than the words. It is making the time when there is none. Coming through time after time after time, year after year after year. Commitment is the stuff character is made of; the power to change the face of things. It is the daily triumph of integrity over skepticism. – Abraham Lincoln

No One is Perfect.  The quicker this is realized the faster you can get on with being excellent.  Start every morning ready to fight harder than you did the day before and run further than you ever imagine.

Avoid over explaining yourself.  Be confident with who you are.

Keep balance in your life.  Write down what’s most important to you and show up.  Sometimes we tend to do the things that are most important to us when it’s written down.

Play the hand you were dealt.  Have the courage to face challenges head on it builds character.  Start looking for a way through instead of a way out.

Be a student of life.  Learn something new every day.  The day you stop learning is the day you become obsolete so keep learning.

No Excuses.  Stop making excuses replace them with ways to do better.  Excuses are a waste of time and energy.

Let others know where you Stand.  Be uncompromising and be up front when someone steps on your core values.

Never be afraid of a challenge.  You put on your shoes like every other man.  Now it comes down to who wants it more.

Service to others.  Small, simple or important be a volunteer and give the very best of you.

Work like hell.  Everyone has a job to do so do it.  Cross every “T” and dot every “I”.

Discover You.  Find your passion, life purpose, and take action.

Don’t take it Personal.  Don’t be afraid to laugh at yourself self confidence shows that you’re comfortable in your own skin.

Manage your time.  Our situation and environment is ever changing so be careful not to confuse the things that are urgent with the things that are important.  Look for time wasters and eliminate them.

Ask for help.  Life can be tough remember you never have to do it alone.

Do your homework.  Know what you getting into before you start.  Doing your homework reduces uncertainty and fear.

Day Dream Often.  On the weekend when you are relaxing embrace a day dream.  During the week take action to preserve your dreams.

Be A HERO.  Cultivate a healthy dose of forgiveness and set someone free.  Learn to forgive others and stop carrying those bags of hate, guilt or regret.

Stay One Step Ahead.  Be proactive, Take the initiative, Brainstorm with the big picture in mind.

Self Love.  Become your own priority.  Strive to be the you, you want to be.

Finish what you started.  Avoid the urge to stray.

Pentru a rezista un angajament trebuie sa fie urmat, an dupa an dupa an. - Abraham Lincoln

Magnificent Indian Temple Carved from One Giant Rock.. Un templu indian superb, sculptat dintr-o singura roca gigant

EN: Magnificent Indian Temple Carved from One Giant Rock

When most of us were growing up, we learned about a handful of man-made wonders of the world such as the pyramids in Egypt, the Colosseum in Rome, and the Great Wall of China. One that may have slipped right past you could have been the Kailashnath Temple in Maharashtra, India.

What's most amazing about the Kailashnath Temple is that it's carved out of one single rock. Carvers started at the top and excavated downward, exhuming the temple out of the existing rock. The traditional methods were rigidly followed by the master architect, which could not have been achieved by excavating from the front.

Dedicated to Hindu Lord Shiva, the temple was built between 756-774 CE by the Rashtrakuta king Krishna I and measures about 60 feet tall and 200 feet wide. All the carvings are done on more than one level. Originally flying bridges of stone connected these galleries to central temple structures, but they have since fallen. The base of the temple has been carved to suggest that elephants are holding the structure aloft.

RO: Un templu indian superb, sculptat dintr-o singura roca gigant

Thriving since 1960, my garden in a bottle: Seedling sealed in its own ecosystem and watered just once in 53 years..

EN: Thriving since 1960, my garden in a bottle: Seedling sealed in its own ecosystem and watered just once in 53 years

For the last 40 years it has been completely sealed from the outside world. But the indoor variety of spiderworts (or Tradescantia, to give the plant species its scientific Latin name) within has thrived, filling its globular bottle home with healthy foliage.
Yesterday Mr Latimer, 80, said: ‘It’s 6ft from a window so gets a bit of sunlight. It grows towards the light so it gets turned round every so often so it grows evenly.

‘Otherwise, it’s the definition of low-maintenance. I’ve never pruned it, it just seems to have grown to the limits of the bottle.’
The bottle garden has created its own miniature ecosystem. Despite being cut off from the outside world, because it is still absorbing light it can photosynthesise, the process by which plants convert sunlight into the energy they need to grow.

Photosynthesis creates oxygen and also puts more moisture in the air. The moisture builds up inside the bottle and ‘rains’ back down on the plant.

The leaves it drops rot at the bottom of the bottle, creating the carbon dioxide also needed for photosynthesis and nutrients which it absorbs through its roots.
It was Easter Sunday 1960 when Mr Latimer thought it would be fun to start a bottle garden ‘out of idle curiosity’.

Into a cleaned out ten gallon carboy, or globular bottle, which once contained sulphuric acid, he poured some compost then carefully lowered in a seedling using a piece of wire.
He put in about a quarter of a pint of water. It was not until 1972 that he gave it another ‘drink’.

After that, he greased the bung so it wedged in tightly... and has not watered it since.
The bottle stands on display under the stairs in the hallway of his home in Cranleigh, Surrey, the same spot it has occupied for 27 years after he and his wife Gretchen moved from Lancashire when he retired as an electrical engineer.

The 5,000 ducks quack march.. Marsul mac-mac a celor 5.000 de rate

EN: The 5,000 ducks quack march

By the left, quack march! Farmer stops traffic taking his 5,000 ducks for a walk to the local pond
A Chinese farmer caused chaos on the roads when he ducked out to feed his flock of 5,000. Hong brought streets in the eastern city of Taizhou to a standstill when, accompanied by a colleague, he took his animals to a pond.
Armed with nothing but a cane, he guided his feathered friends three quarters of a mile (aprox 1.21 km) as part of an annual tradition in Zhejiang province. And he claims that not one of the ducks was lost in transition during the tricky duck migration manoeuvre.

But motorists didn't seem too bothered by the disruption, and stopped to stare at the incredible sight.

Taizhou lies 190 miles (aprox 305.78 km) south of Shanghai and has a population of almost 6 million people.

Iata marsul mac-mac!

Spray Art of David Walker.. Arta cu spray a lui David Walker

EN: Spray Art of David Walker

Spray painting has become lately one of the well known form of art all around the world. David Walker is an artist involved in spray art and has exhibited his creations ever since 2004. Until the present time he participated in over 60 exhibitions, mostly in UK but not only.
Without aid of stencils or brushes London-based artist David Walker creates elaborately explosive portraits using directly applied spray paint. Even as the colors drip and mix on large outdoor walls it’s hard to imagine the level of control and detail the artist must possess to create the shadows, lines, and textures that create each piece. The top and bottom pieces in this post are recent works seen in London and Paris, and you can see much more on his Facebook page and in his shop where he has nearly a dozen portraits available as high quality prints.

Dear Ego.. Draga Ego

EN: Ego Gets The Boot: Letter Found On Kitchen Table

Dear Ego,
I’m breaking up with you. No more circular discussions, no more eleventh hour recriminations. We’re through.

This is not an emotional decision. Actually, it doesn’t feel like a decision at all. We’ve been drifting apart for some time now, and more than anything I’m just acknowledging the distance between us. Whatever kept us together just isn’t there anymore.

It won’t do you any good to turn on the charm. Don’t bother trying to fill my head with thoughts about how great we are together or how lost I’ll be without you. You no longer have that kind of power over me. I see right through you now. I look, and there’s nothing there.

It took me a long time to figure you out. Like so many unhappy couples I know, we drifted into our own little world and for the longest time I mistook it for reality. If you asked me to pinpoint the day this shift occurred, I couldn’t, because it happened so long ago. But I vaguely remember what life was like before I met you. Actually, it’s more a feeling than a memory, a feeling of freedom. Not an “I-have-a-whole-weekend-in-front-of-me-with-no-plans” kind of freedom, but something different altogether. It’s more a sense of spaciousness, the kind children must feel before their heads become filled with worldly nonsense, before their sense of wonder contracts, before they begin to imitate the behavior of the troubled souls around them.

Earthquake art.. Arta cutremurului

EN: Earthquake art

When a magnitude 6.8 earthquake shook Olympia, Wash., in 2001, shop owner Jason Ward discovered that a sand-tracing pendulum had recorded the vibrations in the image above.
Seismologists say that the “flower” at the center reflects the higher-frequency waves that arrived first; the outer, larger-amplitude oscillations record the lower-frequency waves that arrived later.
“You never think about an earthquake as being artistic — it’s violent and destructive,” Norman MacLeod, president of Gaelic Wolf Consulting in Port Townsend, told ABC News. “But in the middle of all that chaos, this fine, delicate artwork was created.”

RO: Arta cutremurului

Ed Fairburn, the artist that gives maps a human face..

EN: Ed Fairburn, the artist that gives maps a human face

Remember when you were young and you'd look up at the sky and see faces in the clouds? Well Ed Fairburn does this same imaginative meditation when he opens up a road or subway map. Using classic hatch-mark chiaroscuro technique, Fairburn manipulates chaotic topographical patchworks of roads, railroads, rivers and mountain ranges into crystal clear ink and graphite portraits of striking detail.

Like playing connect-the-dots in starlit skies, Fairburn looks for the familiar buried within what might otherwise be discarded as nonsense. Where many of us have thought, "Wow, Italy looks like a boot," Fairburn takes exercises in imagination to a whole new level.

"The work I produce is largely figurative, and through the exploration of the human form I examine the patterns and structures which exist across the body," Fairburn explains of his work. "Emphasis is placed on the ‘fragmented' texture of the skin, a process which has encouraged my work to evolve from its occupation of plain paper to the potential occupation of other, pre-fragmented or pre-patterned surfaces."

Staring down a blank canvas is a well-known challenge for artists. Fairburn's approach not only circumvents this obstacle, but also produces gainful conceptual results in the process. The act of altering maps calls into sharp focus the interconnectivity between people and place. What better canvas to lay the magnetic gaze of a human face?

Fairburn's cartographic images have been exhibited at the Cowbridge Music Festival and used for charity work in the Zambia Project.

Lungi troiene calatoare adunate-n cer gramada;

Ziua ninge, noaptea ninge, dimineata ninge iara!

In vazduh voios rasuna, clinchete de zurgalai...

Noapte de iarnă
de George Topârceanu

Cad din cer mărgăritare
Pe oraşul adormit...

Plopii, umbre solitare
În văzduhul neclintit,
Visători ca amorezii
Stau de veghe la fereastră,
Şi pe marmura zăpezii
Culcă umbra lor albastră.

Iarna!... Iarna tristă-mbracă
Streşinile somnoroase,
Pune văl de promoroacă
Peste pomi şi peste case.
Scoate-o lume ca din basme
În lumini de felinare -
Umple noaptea de fantasme
Neclintite şi bizare.
Din ogeagul de cărbune
Face albă colonadă
Şi pe trunchiuri negre pune
Capiteluri de zăpadă,
Iar prin crengile cochete
Flori de marmură anină, -
O ghirlandă de buchete
Care tremură-n lumină.
Reci podoabe-n ramuri goale
Plouă fără să le scuturi,
Ici, risipă de petale,
Colo, roi uşor de fluturi...

David Kracov, the Peter Pan artist.. David Kracov, artistul Peter Pan

EN: David Kracov, the Peter Pan artist

David Kracov, whose paintbrush is guided by the ever-changing muse of pop culture, whose clay is shaped by the witty puns of the English language, and whose designs are brought to life by his literary prowess, has left his unmistakable fingerprint on the world of modern art.

Sculptor, painter, and animator, his hands have also helped shape landmark movies including The Lion King and The Swan Princess; David truly understands how to capture the hearts of young and old alike.

Building his portfolio since the age of 12, when he was featured as one of the youngest artists ever to showcase in the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, David developed his raw talent by pursuing and receiving a degree from the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design.

Beginning as a child artist, David’s youthful and untainted passion has remained his canvas throughout his lifetime of work.  After creating the world-famous sculpture commissioned by the Holocaust Museum of St Petersburg, Florida which depicts the Tazmanian Devil tearing the roof off of a boxcar to release hundreds of hand-painted butterflies—which represent the souls of the 1 million children who lost their lives in the Holocaust—David’s artwork has been forever changed.  David now adds one single butterfly to every piece that he creates, sometimes visible, sometimes hidden.  This butterfly—this tribute to the delicacy and value of a child’s life—has become David’s signature trademark.

As a tribute to those who lost their lives on 9/11, David created the metal wall sculpture, “Reflections”, which depicts the New York skyline, with his signature butterflies soaring towards the sky, where the Towers once stood. In the reflections below, the Towers can be seen. Sculptures from this edition adorn the walls of several prominent New York real estate tycoons.

David’s passion for children extends far beyond his frames; he has paved the road into the unexplored genre of “Lifesaving Art.”  After inspiring so many children through his work with animation and helping adults reconnect with their youthful curiosity through his metal sculptures and shadowboxes, David has recently created a line of artwork to literally save the lives of children in critical need.  This line has already raised thousands of dollars for Chabad’s Children of Chernobyl—the only organization in the world that permanently evacuates and treats sick children from the Chernobyl region.  To date, with the help of David, CCOC has saved the lives of over 2,600 children.

David’s sculptures are included in the collections of several of Hollywood’s elite entertainment names, including Steven Spielberg, Matt Damon, Judy Sheindlin, Donald Trump, Robert Kiyosaki, Whoopi Goldberg, Joel Silver, and Richard Donner.

RO: David Kracov, artistul Peter Pan

David Kacov, cel a carui pensula este ghidata de muza mereu schimbatoare a culturii pop, a carui lut prinde forma impulsionat de jocurile de cuvinte ghiduse ale limbii engleze si a carui desene prind viata prin dibacia poetica, si-a lasat amprenta inconfundabila in lumea artei moderne.

CHILDREN OF CHERNOBYL 2010 - David Kracov and Whoopi Goldberg

Peste sat.

Nu e soare, dar e bine,
Şi pe râu e numai fum.
Vântu-i liniştit acum,
Dar năvalnic vuiet vine
De pe drum.

Sunt copii. Cu multe sănii,
De pe coastă vin ţipând
Şi se-mping şi sar râzând;
Prin zăpadă fac mătănii;

Gură fac ca roata morii;
Şi de-a valma se pornesc,
Cum prin gard se gâlcevesc
Vrăbii gureşe, când norii
Ploi vestesc.

Cei mai mari acum, din sfadă,
Stau pe-ncăierate puşi;
Cei mai mici, de foame-aduşi,
Se scâncesc şi plâng grămadă
Pe la uşi.

Colo-n colţ acum răsare
Un copil, al nu ştiu cui,
Largi de-un cot sunt paşii lui,
Iar el mic, căci pe cărare
Parcă nu-i.

This incredible aerial photograph by Adrian Franco was selected as National Geographic’s Picture of the Day for April 9, 2012. In it we see the incredible fractal patterns rivers (now dried out) have made as they spread into the salt flats of the Baja California Desert in Mexico.

These patterns are nearly identical to the Lichtenberg Figures that result from an electrical discharge (e.g., scars from people struck by lightning have the exact same patterns).

Carrots, Eggs or Coffee.. Morcov, Ou sau Cafea..

EN: Carrots, Eggs or Coffee; "Which are you?" she asked her granddaughter

A young woman went to her grandmother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved a new one arose.

Her grandmother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water. In the first, she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs and the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil without saying a word.

In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl. Turning to her granddaughter, she asked, "Tell me what do you see?"

"Carrots, eggs, and coffee," she replied.

Boguslaw Sliwinski funny ceramic plates.. Farfuriile amuzante de ceramica marca Boguslaw Sliwinski

EN: Boguslaw Sliwinski funny ceramic plates

Polish designer Boguslaw Sliwinski has created a new series of plates to encourage people to play with their food, allowing diners to recreate sporting action or different hair styles with their vegetables.

Remember when mama used to tell you to stop playing with your food? The adventures of war games and space travels that you created from your meal meant nothing to her. All she cared about was forcing you to eat that green stuff and would proclaim how good it was for you. But designer Boguslaw Sliwinski recognizes that food and creativity don’t have to be a problem in a young child. His wonderful BS Toy ceramic plates lets a child’s imagination run wild while eating healthy too. Each plate has a simple drawing of a train, a ship, a truck or even a helicopter to allow a child’s meal time to be an enjoyable one.

Rusk a raspuns:

Ce or fi avind de gind, sa-i bombardeze?
Avem unsprezece asemenea nave. Cite are Franta?
Puteai sa  auzi cum cade un ac!...
